                  DEMO TIP OF THE MONTH
                  by Dennis "Doomsday" Ruppel
                  Sometimes small things are
overlooked, but they can make all the difference.  Here
are a few small things that might help you win the demo.
During a demo you only have
30 seconds in-between hits to make contact before you are
disqualified. If your cars bumper gets hooked on another car
you wont be able to make contact in time. To help prevent this
I recommend cutting off the ends of your bumpers or bending
them in (whichever you prefer). This little thing could keep
you from getting hooked and disqualified. I also recommend
chaining the bumpers to prevent their loss.
                  Part two involves the tires.
If your tires are flat it makes it difficult to get anywhere.
There are three things that I like to do.

                    -

Use the best tires you
can find. A good source are the Firestone recall tires
because they are beefy, generally brand new, and pretty
easy to find (HINT: Firestone and Ford dealers are
supposed to cut holes in the tires but most of them do
                      not)

                    -

Use tubes. They are $10
each and they can help prevent flats.

                    -

Weld a piece of pipe
(approximately 2" in diameter) to the rim, over where
the valve stem comes through, in order to protect it.
(Some demo drivers try to stick their bumpers into
opponents tires in order to rip the valve stem out of the
rim, welding the pipe will help prevent that.)

I hope these tips can be
                  useful.
