DEMOLITION DERBY TIP
OF THE MONTH
This month's tip concerns vision and safety in
the windshield area.
Stock windshields are prone to fogging or being
covered with oil and antifreeze. Flying objects may shatter the
glass and hit the driver.
I remove the windshield and weld bars from the
cowl to the roof. Spaced so that a tire will not pass between
them. (Do not weld them to the windshield track it is not
strong enough. weld them right to the roof.)
I then fasten chain link fencing from side to
side with hose clamps around
the windshield posts and the welded bars. (Do not use ty-wraps they
are not strong enough.)
This will also prevent the hood from being
pushed back inside the car.
Either goggles or a visor must be used to
protect your eyes.
This set-up gives you the best combination of
visibility and safety.
GOOD LUCK! Dennis Ruppel a.k.a. DOOMSDAY
RACING.
