EWANITSKO JOINS TS TEAM FOR 2003

Calverton, L.I., NY, TS Haulers and Mike Ewanitsko have officially joined forces for the 2003 season.  Ewanitsko will compete on the Featherlite Modified Tour as well as a select number of shows at Riverhead Raceway, Ewanitsko’s home track.  Ewanitsko was scheduled to run a number of races for TS this past season but an injury at the Waterford Speedbowl put him out of the racing scene for the rest of the season.  Since then he has fully recovered from those injuries and has spent countless hours in the gym preparing to return to the racing world.

Ewanitsko will join current TS driver Bo Gunning, who will once again be back for the 2003 season.  Gunning will defend his Stafford Motor Speedway SK Modified title as well as try to continue his hot streak at Thompson Speedway.  The first year team recorded 6 total wins between the two tracks in 2002 and looks to have similar success in 2003.

While TS adds one member to its team, it loses another.  Current crew chief Mike Wheeler has accepted a position as engineer at Joe Gibbs Racing, Busch Operations and will move south at the end of the month.  Wheeler, better known as “Wheels,” oversaw both the Tour Modifieds and SK Modifieds this past season with much success.  Kenny Lechner will step into the role of being crew chief for Ewanitsko.  Lechner and Ewanitsko worked together with good success at the beginning of the 2001 season before other obligations arose.  While Lechner will oversee the Tour Modified division, current crewmembers Mike “Windshield” Engstrom and Stanley Lojko will run the SK operations.  The entire team at TS Haulers wishes Wheeler the best of luck and continued success as he moves on to bigger and better opportunities.
