2003
FEATHERLITE MODIFIED SERIES SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
Daytona
Beach, FL -- NASCAR has announced the 2003 Featherlite
Modified Series, NASCAR Touring schedule, featuring 19 races
at 9 tracks. The 2003 campaign will cover six states from
Maine to Pennsylvania. Two new tracks, which just opened their
gates last season, will host the series for the first time –
Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa. (June 14) and Adirondack
International Speedway in Beaver Falls, N.Y. (July 26). In
addition, the schedule includes traditional events at Stafford
(Conn.) Motor Speedway, Thompson (Conn.) International
Speedway, the 1.058-mile New Hampshire International Speedway
(NHIS) in Loudon, N.H. and other long-time series venues.
“Every
year, the Featherlite Modified Series is one of the most
highly-anticipated schedules that NASCAR puts together,”
said Chris Boals, NASCAR’s director of regional touring and
the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge. “We’re
pleased to offer this schedule in 2003. The two new tracks,
along with the long-established tracks that have hosted the
series year after year, provide a great calendar for fans
across the region.”
In
keeping with Modified tradition, the 2003 season,
which marks the 19th year for the series, will
open and close at the 5/8-mile Thompson oval with the
“Icebreaker” and “World Series” races. On what have
become two of the most exciting racing weekends in New
England, the Featherlite Modified Series teams and drivers
will take to the fast 1.058-mile oval at NHIS on July 18 and
Sept. 12.
