DAYTONA
500 PARTY AT MIKE'S PLACE TOO
The 11th annual Long Island Daytona 500 Party will unfold
Sunday, February 16th. Hosts Bob Finan and Steve Halpin
announced the bash will be held at Mike's Place Too, a popular
pub and restaurant in Mastic, L.I. The annual get together has
grown in popularity year after year and the 2003 edition
should be no exception.
Of course the 2002 Daytona 500
Party came to an emotional climax when Long Island native Tom
Baldwin Jr. guided driver Ward Burton to victory. Baldwin this
year will team with long time rival on the NASCAR Featherlite
Modified Series, Jimmy Spencer, at Ultra Motorsports and along
with Steve Park formerly of East Northport in the DEI #1, Long
Island fans will have plenty to root for.
Bob Finan, who along with his
former announcing partner at Riverhead Raceway hosts the
affair, is very excited about the move to Mike's Place Too.
"Mike's is an upscale facility with tons of television
monitors and great food and Steve and I want to thank Tim
Halpin for all his effort in this" Finan commented. There
is no admission fee as Finan and Halpin are hosting the affair
just so race fans can gather for what is their "Super
Bowl" party.
During the course of the race,
which hits the Fox airwaves at 12:00 noon, Mike's Place will
be offering $2.00 Budweiser and Michelob tap beer and later in
the race is set up with four buffet stations, with special
giveaways also available from Budweiser. Of course the
ever-popular Daytona 500 pool will be available when the doors
open at 11:00 am. In 2002 no less than four pools were needed
to fill the demand of those in attendance.
Mike's Place Too is just south of
Montauk Highway in Mastic. Off Montauk Highway head south on
Herkimer Street which in less than a half mile turns into
Mastic Road. After turning into Mastic Road, Mike's Place Too
is just 100 yards south on your right and there is plenty of
parking towards the rear of the restaurant. The phone number
for Mike's Place Too is 631-281-1169.
