ERICH
BERGMANN RECOVERING MIRACULOUSLY
Erich Bergmann, a Riverhead
Raceway security guard was recently diagnosed with Multiple
Myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer this past December.
Bergmann has been going under a
strenuous regime of treatments and it appears Bergmann has
made some great progress.
Bergmann returned back home on
February 22nd after some tests which showed promising
news. After running through the full gamut of tests such
as blood work, CAT Scans, MRI, PET scans, and x-rays, the
results showed that 50+% if cancer cells in his bone marrow
have been reduced to 10%.
The tumor in his clavicle has
been reduced from 12 cm to now 2 cm. In addition, all
his blood counts have greatly improved. However the best
news of all is that the two largest and perhaps the most
lethal tumors which were on his brain and spine have
miraculously disappeared.
Erich's doctor is very pleased
with his progress and has started Erich on a monthly infusion
of medication to strengthen his bones and prevent further bone
loss. Overall, Erich has lost about sixty pounds
but his appetite has returned somewhat and hopefully he can
regain some of his lost wait.
In three months, Erich will be
retested for his progress and then evaluated for a stem cell
transplant to help him in remission.
Erich gets stronger everyday
but still has some ups and downs. The Bergmann family
wishes to keep your prayers going to help Erich overcome this
ordeal and would like to thank the racing community for their
support, cards, calls, and visits.
