ENDUROS TO BE SPLIT INTO TWO
by Dan Dombal

With the onset of the splitting of the Enduros into two divisions, Grand and Stock, new rules have come about.  Here are the following UNOFFICIAL rule changes:

Grand Enduros:

  • 7” Wide Rims Stock Steel OR Racing Rims
  • Tires are to be in the 70’s series, such as example:  225/78X15-225/75X15 or 225/70X15
  • Rub rails will be allowed but only between the wheel base only.  1 3/4" max round tube or 3” x 1/4" max flat steel welded to the body.  No lower than center hubs and no higher than the tire.  Must be tight against body with no sharp ends.
  • Stock springs and shocks in their original position
  • Fuel cells allowed to be reinforced for safety reasons
  • 6 Point rollcage with the rear rollcage bars not to go past the middle of the center of the rear axle bend in the frame.
  • Regular windshields
  • Fuel Cut-Off not mandatory
  • Stock or locked rears
  • Engines:  No specific rules, but obvious outside components such as carburetors, distributors, exhaust, intake manifolds.  NO ELI
  • NO electric fans
  • NO antifreeze
  • Fuel-injected cars have to have an electrical supply cut-off switch.
  • No additional vacuum (booster) storage containers for brakes.
  • No brake-proportioning valve.
  • Bumpers allowed to be cut, but no sharp edges.

Stock Enduros:

  • Everything stays the same as current existing Enduro rules
  • Except:  additional safety equipment will be allowed and NO locked rears
  • Any motors with ANY question of doubt of being stock will be torn down.
  • All tires must have the same rims and sizes.

Other Notes:

  • Pro Enduros may have a rolling start
  • A coin may be flipped to determine the direction of the race, i.e. clockwise or counterclockwise.
  • Scoring will be under heavy scrutiny as Riverhead will have enough scorers to watch over 50 scorers.
  • No NEETS races.
