RIVERHEAD RACEWAY
OPENER AWASH-EARLY START THIS SATURDAY
A
rainy and cool day dawned this past Saturday on Long Island
forcing Riverhead Raceway promoters Barbara and Jim Cromarty
to postpone the scheduled opening night NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series program early in the day.
The rainout sets
up a busy night for this Saturday night May 3rd, which already
had a 50-lap NASCAR Modified time trial event scheduled. The
30-lap, double point Blunderbust race set for this past
Saturday will now move to this week on the six division
program. With all that racing to unfold track officials have
announced the feature events for May 3rd will start at 6:00
pm, one half-hour earlier than normal.
Oddly enough the
rainout is the first for Riverhead Raceway on a Saturday night
since 2001, but Mother Nature took over the early season
points lead with her victory on opening night.
Joining the
NASCAR Modifieds and Blunderbusts Saturday evening will be the
Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers and Blunderbusts.
Time trials for the Modifieds will go
green at 4:30 pm with the features again to start at 6:00 pm.
