CROMARTY
CUP TO HIGHLIGHT MAY 17 SHOW
One of the most anticipated races for the Figure Eight
division at Riverhead Raceway is the annual Cromarty Cup 25.
The 2003 edition is set for Saturday night May 17th
along with five other divisions on Trailer Transport night for
the Super Pro Trucks
One driver looking forward to the Cromarty Cup 25 is
Mike Mujsce of Hampton Bays who has won it for two years in a
row and of course is a threat for a “three-peat”.
Defending Figure Eight champion Tom Rogers Jr. of Patchogue
will lead the roster of drivers hoping to wrestle the Cromarty
Cup away from Mike Mujsce. Among them are Roger Maynor of May
Shore, George Sprague of N. Patchogue, Bill Steen of Oakdale,
Bill and Will Farrell of Shirley and Tom Kraft of Mastic.
The Figure Eights aren’t the only division with an
extra distance, double point feature on May 17th,
as the Late Models will go 50 laps with time trial qualifying.
Scott Kulesa of Calverton took the 2002 crown in the division
and looks forward to this race as a springboard to a title
defense. Out to try and thwart Kulesa will be Roger Oxee of
Peconic, Peter Eriksen of Baldwin, Greg Kleila of Lindenhurst,
Glenn Tyler of Hampton Bays and Mike Mortimer of Mastic Beach.
Trailer Transport, seasonal sponsor for the Super Pro
Trucks, will host their night at the races for the “tailgate
brigade”.
All the SPT heavy hitters will be out racing for the
Trailer Transport hardware headed-up by Danny Grennan of Glen
Cove. Out to beat the 2002 SPT champ will be Lou Maestri of
Deer Park, Mike Jurkowski of Brentwood, Mike Albasini of
Bayside, queens and Lenny Costa of College Point, Queens.
Completing the six for one NASCAR DODGE Weekly Series
show will be the NASCAR Modifieds, Chargers and Blunderbusts.
Time trials for the Late Models will lead off the
qualifying procedure at 4:30 pm, with feature event racing to
commence at 6:30 pm, for more information call the track
office at 631-842-RACE.
