RIVERHEAD NASCAR
MODIFIEDS TO TUNE-UP FOR FMS VISIT MAY 31
The
Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified regulars who plan on running
the Miller Lite 200 on June 7th will have an opportunity to
ready themselves one week earlier as Barbara and Jim Cromarty
will host a 50-lap, double point event on Saturday May 31st.
The race will feature time-trial qualifying and might even
find a few NASCAR FMS teams attempting to qualify.
The first 50-lap NASCAR Modified
feature of 2003 fell victim to defending Riverhead Raceway
champion J.R. Bertuccio on May 3rd and the 21-year old
standout is a favorite for the upcoming contest as well. Out
to top J.R. will be Joe Hartmann, John Fortin, Chuck Steuer,
Mike Andrews Jr. and Frank Vigliarolo Jr. who chased Bertuccio
to the line on opening night. Also in the mix will be Bill
Park, Chris Young, Wayne Anderson, Ed Brunnhoelzl Jr., Dan
Jivanelli and Lenny Fischer.
Joining the NASCAR "Mod
Squad" on the card will be the Late Models, Figure
Eights, Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks. The night will also
mark the first Saturday night appearance of the One-On-One
Spectator Drag competition. This event pits two drivers in
street legal cars for a one-lap, single elimination race
around the quarter mile facility. Normally run on the Sunday
Enduro programs, the NASCAR fans should really enjoy this
contest as well and the One-On-One Spectator Drags are open to
anyone who wants to take a shot at racing the historic oval.
The
NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series rolls on each and every Saturday
night at Riverhead Raceway through September. For additional
information please call 631-842-RACE or visit our website at www.riverheadraceway.com.
