ENTRIES FOR RIVERHEAD MILLER LITE 200 SATURDAY
Riverhead
Raceway officials announced today that as of Thursday, May
29th thirty-seven entries have been received at the track
office for the Miller Lite 200 NASCAR Featherlite Modified
Series. A field of 28 cars will take to the track for
the $64,675 contest at the quarter mile oval this Saturday
night.
Heading up the roster of pre-race
entrants are defending race winner Ted Christopher of
Plainville, Ct. and current FMS points leader John Blewett III
of Howell, N.J. Both own a career victory each at the
demanding Riverhead facility and should be in contention for
the win in the 2003 edition of the Miller Lite 200.
Among the other FMS regulars
registered are Rick Fuller of Auburn, Ma. Chuck Hossfeld of
Ransomville, N.Y., Jerry Marquis of Broad Brook, Ct., Eddie
Flemke of Southington, Ct. Jamie Tomaino of Howell, N.J., Tony
Hirschman of Northampton, Pa., and Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield,
Ct.
Leading the way for the "Long
Island Gang" who call the NASCAR Featherlite Modified
Series home will be "Tiger" Tom Baldwin of Bellport,
Tony Ferrante Jr. of New Hyde Park, N.Y. Howie Brode of Bay
Shore and rising star Donny Lia of Merrick.
Seven Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Dodge
Weekly Series competitors have filed entry blanks including
point leader J.R. Bertuccio of Centereach, Bill Park of
Manorville, Frank Vigliarolo Jr. of Mt. Sinai, John Fortin of
Holtsville, Chuck Steuer of Bohemia, Ken Heagy of Riverhead
and Lew Hallock of Moriches.
Time trials will determine the first
23 starting positions for the Miller Lite 200, with the other
5 coming from NASCAR FMS provisional starting positions based
on driver and owner points and past champion provisional if
necessary.
Joining the Miller Lite 200 will be a
30-lap, double point Blunderbust feature event and the Charger
class which will run a 20-lap main event. Their heat races
will start qualifying at 4:30 pm, with feature event racing to
commence at 6:30 pm.
