DODGE
NIGHT COMING TO RIVERHEAD RACEWAY JUNE 14TH
The
title sponsor of the 2003 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series will step
into the limelight at Riverhead Raceway Saturday evening, June
14th, when Barbara and Jim Cromarty present Dodge Night at the
historic facility. A seven-feature event program is slated
featuring the Doug Wholey Excavating 50 Late Model contest and
a 25-lap Figure Eight feature, both carrying double points.
After serving as the presenting
sponsor of the 2002 NASCAR short track series Dodge became the
title sponsor for the 2003 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series that
offers its 2003 National Champion a $170,000 payday.
Peter Daniels of Lebanon, N.H. is the defending NASCAR Dodge
Weekly Series champion. J.R. Bertuccio, who won the
first three NASCAR Modified events of 2003 at Riverhead, also
has his sights set on that title in addition to the New
England Region crown.
The second of three double point
feature events for the Late Models will unfold on Dodge Night.
Doug Wholey's Excavating of Centereach will sponsor the time
trial event. Roger Oxee of Peconic scored a clean sweep in the
season's first 50-lap event and is among the favorites, as are
Peter Eriksen of Baldwin, Scott Kulesa of Calverton, Greg
Kleila of Lindenhurst, Doug Wholey of Centereach and Glenn
Tyler of Hampton Bays.
Also going to battle in their second
double point main event of 2003 will be the famed Figure Eight
division with Tom Rogers Jr. of Patchogue taking the first
race in May. Roger Maynor of Bay Shore, George Sprague of N.
Patchogue, Tom Kraft of Mastic Beach, Mike Mujsce of Hampton
Bays and Bill Batsche of Central Islip will be out to cool
down Rogers early season hot hand.
Rounding off the NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series show will be the headlining NASCAR Modifieds, Chargers
and Super Pro Trucks, all racing in regular distance features.
Completing the busy evening will be
the third installment of Train Race action for 2003, the first
Saturday night action for this unique event. Also stepping
into the Saturday night spotlight will be the One-On-One
Spectator Drags.
Time trials for the Late Models will
lead off qualifying at 4:30 pm with feature events to go green
at 6:30 pm. For more information please call the track office
