MOTHER
NATURE NOW THREE FOR SIX AT RIVERHEAD RACEWAY
Not
even the strongest of efforts by NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series
officials at Riverhead Raceway could ward off mother nature
this past Saturday. Rain wiped out the card after
seven of twenty-eight NASCAR Modifieds had taken time trials.
It marks the third rain-out in six attempts for Barbara and
Jim Cromarty who went the entire 2002 slate without a washout.
Of the seven cars that took time in a
light mist John Fortin of Holtsville posted a quick time
of 12.120. By the time both Frank Vigliarolo Jr. and J.R.
Bertuccio took time the track conditions worsened and an
effort to dry the facility ensued. However the mist became a
drizzle and the eventually steady rain and the decision to
call the show was made.
Pit passes and rain checks from this
past week will be honored on Saturday night June 14th, with
Blunderbust teams able to use their May 31st pit pass on June
21st as they have the 14th off. The double point race for the
NASCAR Modifieds is now scheduled for the 75-lap event in
September, while the Demolition Derby from May 31st which was
rescheduled from May 24th is now scheduled for June 14th.
Please note the pit passes and rain
checks from May 31st will not be honored this week Saturday
June 7th. This is the first of two stops for the NASCAR
Featherlite Modified Series and there is a different price
structure for the Miller Lite 200 at both the front and back
gates.
