RIVERHEAD RACEWAY
GOING FULL SIZE SATURDAY JULY 12TH
Riverhead
Raceway is going all out Saturday night July 12th when the
first full sized School Bus Figure Eight race of 2003 will
join the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series. Another
great night of stock car racing and family entertainment is
planned alongwith a Train Race which is set to go on the
Figure Eight course.
A five for one NASCAR stock car
program will highlight the Buzz Chew Chrysler-Dodge night as
the track salutes the Southampton based car dealership for
their pace car sponsorship. The 2003 Chrysler Sebring
convertible, which comes from Buzz Chew Chrysler-Dodge, will
pace the field for NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure
Eights, Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks.
The evening will also serve as U.S.
Army night as the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series sponsor takes
center stage during the night's racing activities.
Once the side-by-side stock car racing
is completed it will be time for some "extreme"
action and entertainment. Both the Train Race, where three
cars are chained together with two drivers to a team and the
Full Size School Buses will take to the Figure Eight course
for action to be remembered for a long, long time.
Track officials are lining up some 14
to 20 buses to race in the School Bus Figure Eight race and
once the field spreads out, hold onto your seat. The fur
will fly. The race is the first of four big bus events in 2003
with another Figure Eight race set for August 9th and the
following week, August 16th, a Demolition Derby will crush the
buses. Also on September 20th the second Full Size School Bus
Demolition Derby will unfold.
Action for July 12th will commence
with qualifying races at 4:30 pm with main event racing to
start at 6:30 pm.
