MINI CUPS COME BACK TO POUGHKEEPSIE

As the sun broke Saturday morning the Long Island Mini Cup Association headed to the Poughkeepsie Speedway located in Poughkeepsie, New York. Racers came from Long Island, Connecticut, and other places as well. Gates opened at 2pm and the cars and stars rolled into the pit area of the speedway soon after. Some last minute preparation for the teams to have practice underway at around 4pm. 6 Mini Cups on hand for another fun filled night of Mini Cup racing under the lights at the Poughkeepsie Speedway for race #3 of the night series.
Steve DeGaray would arrive late to the speedway and miss a round of practice but that didn't hold him back. DeGaray's #1 Pennzoil Chevrolet Monte Carlo pushed out to the early lead in the Senior Mini Cup feature event. Once he was out front he never looked back and went on to win the 20 lap feature event, with Leonard Francois #2 coming home in the second spot.  Bryan Johnson was on hand in the Pro Mod class. Since Bryan was the only one to arrive in his class he raced with the Seniors to put on a show for the fans and racers. Johnson, driving the John's Auto Repair #88 would then go on to win his 3rd race of 2003 in the Pro Mod class.
Two Juniors were also on deck for the nights racing. Kyle Francois and Joe Burns would take to the track for their 20 lap feature to conclude the night. Francois in the #6 Valvoline Ford Taurus would take the top spot after some engine trouble in the #53 Pontiac of Joe Burns. Francois would cruise to his first victory at the Poughkeepsie Speedway during the 2003 night series season.
The LIMCA will head back to the beautiful Poughkeepsie Speedway on August 9th for race number 4 of the 6 race series. The lights will be shining and the racing action will heat up as the series continues. August 23rd would be the 5th race and August 30th would make up the last and final race of the Poughkeepsie Speedway Night Series. LIMCA Points will still run a point total from the two tracks to have a yearend Long Island Mini Cup Champion in all 3 classes.
Stay tuned in as the LIMCA grows and progresses into the middle stages of the 2003 season. More cars arriving to the series slowly. For More Information check us out on the web at www.liminicup.com.
