DELABAR AND
DEGARAY MINI CUP WINNERS
With double duty for the Long Island Mini Cup Association
things at times were exciting, while the racing got
interesting on the track. Saturday night at the Poughkeepsie
Speedway for the final race of their night series 7 mini cups
showed for the exciting racing action in 3 classes.
LIMCA Director, John Burns decided to make the racing
even more interesting for the people in Poughkeepsie. Driver
Robyn DeLabar came back to the Poughkeepsie Speedway to show
the boys how to get the job done. She would show the way in
the heat race dueling back and forth with the Pro Mod Truck of
Bryan Johnson to finish 1st in the Pro Mod Class. Tim
Trzcinski would be in close distance to finish 2nd in the
Seniors while battling with Junior driver Joseph Burns winning
for the Juniors. Lenny and Dwayne in the rigid cars would
sport their new body styles and paint jobs, finishing in the
3rd and 4th spot for the Senior Mini Cup class. The #6 Mark
Martin look alike would finish 5th after battling a bad
handling race car.
After a long night and a long drive back to Long Island
the Long Island Mini Cup Association would head to Westhampton
for the 4th race of the LI 6 Race Oval Series. 7 cars would be
on hand for some wild and fun racing action. During second
round practice Joe Sadotto in the DANTONA Industries Chevrolet
Monte Carlo would find himself in the air after a wild ride
into turn one. Bryan Johnson was on the track when it happened
and was first to arrive to the flip scene. Joe was out of the
car on arrival and just suffered a little cut on his left arm.
Sadotto and Crew would piece the car back together to have Joe
start and finish the feature event.
For the feature event Steve DeGaray driving the
Pennzoil #1 would lead from lap 1-4 with Bryan Johnson leading
lap 5, DeGaray would regain the lead on lap 6 and then never
look back. The Pennzoil Monte Carlo would take down the win,
with Bryan Johnson in the John's Auto Repair #88 finishing a
close second in the race but 1st in the Pro Mod Class.
Johnson's Ford Ranger would break the right front lower
control arm within laps of the finish. The flaming number 6 of
Shawn would finish 3rd after battling with Johnson for a bunch
of laps. Tim Trzcinski would battle back to finish 4th after
an early race spin. Joseph Burns would come in 5th, but would
finish 1st in the Junior class. Sadotto in the Euro Tech Auto
Body #48 would finish 6th after his practice flip earlier that
morning. New comer Richard Miller would debut his #3 Dale
Earnhardt, Sr. Wrangler Jeans Monte Carlo for the first time
this season. He would end up finish 7th. Congratulations to
all the class winners.
LIMCA will soon venture to the Jennerstown Speedway for
a Mini Cup race. Soon after they will then again venture to
the Mountain Speedway in Pennsylvania for exposition. Next
year if all goes well the LIMCA will have a touring series
within a bunch of new tracks out of state. Stay tuned for more
information on these up coming events!!
