LONG ISLAND
MINI CUPS VENTURE OUT TO PA
This past
Saturday, some members of the Long Island Mini Cup Association
ventured off to Jennerstown Speedway for the SRL (Scale Racing
League) National race. For many, including Joseph and
John Burns, this was the largest track they have ever run.
Joseph Burns in
the #53 John's Auto Repair Pontiac took laps in warm-ups and
much to his own surprise, Burns turned laps around 70
mph. The younger Burns would take down the win in his
division in the 35-lap race.
John Burns and the
#88 John's Auto Repair Ford had a rough day. His day
started out with a ill-running truck and turning a poor
qualifying time as result. In the 15-lap feature, John
would finish fourth.
Robyn Delabar in
the #25 Precision Motor Cars Chevrolet also made the trip,
although the trip was a short one as Jennerstown's in her
homestate. Delabar would finish a respectable 9th in the
final standings for the Adults.
All in all a good
showing for the fast growing Long Island Mini Cup Association.
The next SRL
national race will be held October 18 at South Boston Speedway
in VA. Several of the LIMCA members plan to be in
attendance.
In addition the
LIMCA will be traveling to Mountain Speedway this coming Sunday for an exhibition
race. If you are in the area, racing will start promptly
at 2:00PM. For more information please visit www.liminicup.com
or www.speedwaytech.net
.
In other news, Ken
Stably, the president of the SRL, has appointed John Burns as
National director for the Junior Minicups.
