CROMARTY'S AGAIN ADDING $22,000 TO 2003 RIVERHEAD POINT FUND

    Prior to the 2003 NASCAR Weekly Dodge Series at Riverhead Raceway, promoters Barbara and Jim Cromarty announced that for the second consecutive season they would add $22,000 to the point fund for the six divisions that make up the weekly Saturday night program
    The top ten in each of the six classes will receive point fund checks at the Riverhead Raceway awards banquet on Saturday November 8th at the Melville Marriott. The $22,000 sum will be broken down as follows, $7,300 for the NASCAR Modifieds, $4,650 for the Late Models with the Figure Eights earning $3,650. Charger owners and drivers will receive $2,400 and the Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks will each receive $2,000 from the husband and wife promotional team.
    Hoosier Tire East posted $1,000 at the start of the 2003 campaign for the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers and Blunderbusts.  An additional $5 per tire sold by distributor JYD Enterprises also is being added to the fund prior to the banquet. The Super Pro Trucks will also receive the $5 per tire sum from JYD these figures will be announced around mid-October.
    Long Island's prominent engine builders will also have a major say in the 2003 Riverhead Raceway point fund.  They combine to sponsor the fund with an additional $3,400. Merkel Race Engines of Hauppauge leads the way posting $1,400 among four divisions with McBetts Racing Engines of Copiague and Chuck Deon Race Engines of Manorville each adding $1,000. McBetts money will go to four of the six divisions, while Chuck Deon checks will be spread among all six classes.
    The 2003 point fund comes to a total of $31,000, but before the $5 per-tire sold figures are added for the owners and drivers who finished in the top ten in points.  These figures will be disclosed in a few weeks.
    John Fortin of Holtsville the 2003 NASCAR Modified champion has already earned $6,100 in NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series point fund money by finishing seventh in the New England Region.  Fortin has also earned $1,000 from the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series as the Riverhead Raceway Modified track champion.
    Tickets for the 2003 Riverhead Raceway awards banquet are now available at the rate of $55 by contacting the track office at 631-842-RACE, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.
