RIVERHEAD
GRANDSTAND MODIFICATION PROJECT UNDERWAY
When
the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series and Enduro Racing Series
open at Riverhead Raceway April 24th & 25th both race
teams and spectators alike will notice the a vast improvement
in the pit grandstands as well as those in turns one and two.
Barbara and Jim Cromarty gave the green light for the project
to make all those attending the historic quarter mile oval
that much more comfortable.
The three sections of pit grandstands
in the third turn area of the track are being raised to gain
better sightlines for race teams who utilize that area and all
the wooden boards will be replaced by all new aluminum
seating. In fact the section of stands closest to the pits
will not only be raised, but moved back some three feet and
include a reserved area for race team spotters in 2004. Also
the walkways in the pit grandstand area will be updated and
improved.
The modification project in turns one
and two includes the replacing of all the wooden boards with
aluminum seating and the front portion of those bleachers will
also be raised. Additionally the small section of bleachers in
front of the press box will also have all the wood stripped
from it and replaced with aluminum.
Not even the horrific season weather
wise can deter Barbara and Jim Cromarty from upgrading their
facility to make everyone who supports the NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series from being as comfortable as they possibly can while
enjoying a great view of America's greatest sport.
Proceeding the April 24th and 25th
opening weekend at Riverhead Raceway will be the two
pre-season test and tune practice sessions and they are set
for Saturday April 10th and 17th.
The entire 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series slate will be released November 8th at the annual
awards banquet. For further information please contact the
