C&C Racing Announces Date for 2nd
Annual North-South Shootout
Winston-Salem, NC: C&C Racing
Promotions proudly announced last week that it has set the
date for the 2nd Annual North-South Shootout. The event
will be scheduled for Friday and Saturday, November 5&6,
2004 at Concord Motorsports Park in Concord, NC and will once
again showcase the best that Modified racing has to offer.
"We took some time before announcing the dates for the
2004 race in hopes of gaining some insight on next year's
Modified racing special event schedules," admitted race
co-promoter Charles Kepley of Lexington, NC. "We opted to
stay with the same weekend as last year. We believe that
this will be the best date for all the competitors."
Continuity with the date is the best way to build up the fan
base as well. Fans and teams alike will know from year
to year when they can expect the excitement of the North-South
Shootout.
Exciting was the best way to describe the first-ever
North-South Shootout. The inaugural event, held in
November '03, was one of the best Modified races of the year.
In fact, several posters on the ultra-popular
www.modseriesscene.com message board called the North-South
Shootout "the best moment of the 2003 season". The
last lap duel between John Blewett and Jerry Marquis
highlighted an event that was action-packed from start to
finish.
Much of the same can be expected when the best drivers from
both north and south of the Mason Dixon line head to Concord
for the 2nd Annual North-South Shootout on November 5&6,
2004. John Blewett III will undoubtedly be back to
defend his title while drivers like Jay Hedgecock and L.W.
Miller are likely to try to even the score for the southern
contingent. Race of Champions drivers like Pete Brittain
have vowed to make the trip in 2004 as well.
In 2003, over 50 of the best Modifieds vied for a spot in the
inaugural North-South Shootout. C&C Racing
Promotions will be working hard throughout 2004 to ensure that
a stellar (and chock-full) field will show up to compete in
the 2nd Annual event.
The format for the second annual event will once again boast
time trials, heat races, consolation event(s) and the 100
green flag lap main event. The ever-popular vintage
Modified contingent will be part of the two-day racing
extravaganza as well. Additional support divisions will
be added to the schedule of events at a later date.
Updates will be provided throughout the year on the event's
official website www.northsouthshootout.com
