RIVERHEAD PRE-SEASON INSPECTION DATES ANNOUNCED
Riverhead Raceway chief steward Bill Denniston today announced its three pre-season inspection dates leading up to the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series. Race teams can have their race ready machines inspected on Saturday March 27th, Sunday March 28th and Saturday April 3rd.
In making the announcement Denniston strongly urges everyone to take full advantage of these dates, "last year we must have inspected nearly 60 or more cars, which gave these teams a green light directly to the race track for the pre-season practice sessions" Bill recalled. No car will be permitted to practice on either April 10th or April 17th without going through inspection first and displaying a sticker confirming so.
The inspection area is also open for both pre-season warm-up days, but the lines can get rather drawn out and it can get tough on teams waiting on line while others practice and perhaps get a leg up.
The schedule for March 27th, 28th and April 3rd will find the pits open for pre-season inspection from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm, weather permitting. A $5 per person fee will be charged for the inspections and once again all three dates serve as pre-season practice days for the Eastern Kart Racing Association. There will be a separate fee for the EKRA warm-ups.
A preview to the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series will then unfold Saturday afternoon April 10th and again April 17th when the six divisions of stock cars, along with Enduro series competitors will test and tune for their opening days. The cars will hit the track at 12:00 noon and run until around 5:00 pm, with the NASCAR stock cars having dibs on the track until around 4:00 to be followed by the Enduro machines.
As always grandstand admission is absolutely free of charge for both practice days and fans are urged to come out with their digital cameras and video cameras to catch all the excitement of "spring training" Riverhead Raceway style.
