QUALIFIERS ANNOUNCED FOR SECOND NORTH SOUTH SHOOTOUT

Lexington, NC:  This season as many as eight lucky Modified competitors will earn guaranteed starting positions in the 2nd Annual North-South Shootout„ scheduled for November 5&6, 2004 at Concord Motorsports Park in Concord, NC.  Race promoters C&C Racing Promotions of Lexington, NC released the schedule of eight qualifying races for the 2004 North-South Shootout.

There will be four races from each of the respective regions.  This is up from only six races in 2003.

Venues for the four qualifying races for the southern region will include Friendship Speedway, Caraway Speedway, New River Valley Speedway, and Concord Motorsports Park.  All are S.M.A.R.T. sanctioned races.  The four northern qualifiers combine independent and sanctioned events, including Lee USA Speedway's All-Star Modified 100, the Race of Champions appearance at Thompson International Speedway as well as NASCAR-sanctioned races with a Dodge Weekly Series event at Riverhead Raceway and the coveted Thompson Sunoco 300 for the Featherlite Modified Series, NASCAR Touring.

"We are very excited about the schedule of qualifiers this year," said Promoter, Charles Kepley.  "This is a great assortment of races and race tracks which only helps to guarantee that we will have a bunch of great drivers at the North-South Shootout again in 2004."

The winner of each of the eight races will receive a guaranteed starting spot for the 100-lap Modified race that pits the very best in southern Modified racing against the stars of the north.  Last year over 60 Modified teams from up and down the east coast vied for starting spots in the inaugural North-South Shootout John Boy & Bill Spring Water Modified 100.  Just getting in the show was an accomplishment.  In 2004, once again qualifying for the North-South Shootout will be ultra-competitive with time trials, heat races, and up to two consolation races.

"As competitive as the field is and with a such a large number of cars expected like last year, these starting spots become very valuable," said Josh Jenkins of C&C Racing Promotions.

The excitement of the North-South Shootout starts this weekend at Racearama with the debut of the 2004 racing apparel and memorabilia then gets into full swing in May with the first qualifying race.  It all culminates on November 5&6, 2004 with the battle of the North vs. the South.
