RIVERHEAD
FIGURE EIGHTS TO RUN FOR CROMARTY CUP MAY 15TH
The
criss-crossing excitement of Figure Eight racing has been a
Long Island tradition since 1963 and that tradition continues
every Saturday night at Riverhead Raceway during the 2004
NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series. Their biggest race of the season
annually is the Cromarty Cup 25 and that special event will
unfold on Saturday May 15th.
The Cromarty Cup race will once again
carry double points and in fact is the first of three such
races in '04 for the class. Anyone who is anyone in Figure
Eight racing has won the Cromarty Cup including Roger Maynor,
Bill Steen, Tom Kraft, Tom Rogers, Jr. Mike Mujsce, Joey
Biondolillo Jr., George Brown and John Fortin.
Tom Rogers of Patchogue won the 2003
edition of the Cromarty Cup 25, but with Tom focusing on just
NASCAR Modified racing this year the field will be wide open.
Opening night victor Roger Maynor will certainly be among the
favorites along with George Sprague, Tom Kraft, Bill Steen,
Mike Mujsce, Ken Hyde and Ken Darch.
The Figure Eights aren't the only ones
racing for double points on May 15th, as the Late Model
division will have a 50-lap event with time trial qualifying.
Dave Brigati who took the opening night win will lead Roger
Oxee, Glenn Tyler, Peter Eriksen, Kevin Metzger, Mike
Mortimer, Sean Patterson and Andy Lokkeberg.
Rounding out what will be busy night
are the NASCAR Modifieds, Chargers, Blunderbusts and Super Pro
Trucks. Tim trials for the Late Models will start qualifying
off at 4:30 pm and the main events will go green at 6:30 pm.
