RIVERHEAD
REVVING UP FOR SPECTACULAR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
It's the first
annual right of summer and the 2004 Memorial Day weekend is
going to be a spectacular one indeed at Barbara and Jim
Cromarty's Riverhead Raceway when a doubleheader weekend is
presented. Saturday night will be NASCAR night for the
Dodge Weekly Series, as well Trailer Transport night for the
NASCAR Modifieds.
Four divisions will have at it on
NASCAR night, with the NASCAR Modifieds contesting a 35-lap
feature event on Trailer Transport night. Wayne Anderson who
scored the opening night win will again lead a star-studded
field into action. Joining the former five-time champion will
be John Fortin, Chuck Steuer, Mike Andrews Jr., J.R.
Bertuccio, Dan Jivanelli, Ed Brunnhoelzl, Chris Young and Ken
Heagy.
Rounding out the stock car portion of
the show will be the Late Models, Figure Eights and Chargers.
The Saturday night portion of the show
will also be dotted by four wild events that will leave
everyone on the edge of their seats. A full-size School Bus
Race will be run on the Figure Eight course. This event is
open to anyone who can get their hands on a full-size bus and
will be the first of two races in '04. Later in the year there
will be two Full-Size School Bus Demolition Derby events.
Also thrilling the fans Saturday night
May 29th will be a Demolition Derby for 6-Cylinder
automobiles. This will be the first 6-Cylinder only Demo Derby
ever at Riverhead Raceway and with the trend of trying to find
8-Cylinder cars getting harder and harder will be a part of
future schedules.
A 12-lap Train Race, also on the
Figure Eight course and a Car Rollover Contest will be
presented as well.
Then the racing excitement continues
on Sunday May 30th will round two of the 2004 Enduro series.
The Super Pro Trucks will make their first of several Sunday
appearances and be joined by a literal buffet of Enduro races.
Topping the card will be the Grand Enduro, which will be
joined by an 8-Cylinder, 6-Cylinder, 4-Cylinder and 4/6
Cylinder Truck Enduro. Track officials again want to remind
those who want to race in the newly formed 6-Cylinder Enduro
that they will have their own race on this date.
Start times for the Memorial Day
weekend events at Riverhead Raceway find the Saturday night
May 29th show hosting qualifying at 4:30 pm, with feature
event racing at 6:30 pm. As for Sunday racing commences at
12:30 pm.
