FREE TIRE FOR EVERY NEW FIGURE 8 CAR OUT IN 2004

Artie Schenk, avid Figure 8 racing fan and owner/operator of Blast-It Sandblasting, is offering an incentive for all Figure 8 cars sitting in the garages collecting dust.  Blast-It Sandblasting will personally buy a tire every new Figure 8 car that hits the track this weekend and hasn’t appeared yet in 2004.

The World Famous Figure 8 stock cars are long embedded in Long Island Racing stock car history.  The Figure 8’s first full season was in 1963 at the now extinct Islip Speedway, where Larry Wood would take down the first ever Figure 8 championship.  At Islip, many legends were formed, like Ernie Maynor, Sam Atkins, Doug Huber, and Chris Young.  Riverhead started their Figure 8 program in 1969, where Dave Hawkes was the inaugural Riverhead Figure 8 champion.  The Figure 8’s have produced some top-notch talent, some of which have used the Figure 8’s as a stepping-stone, such as 1989 Modified Champion, Dan Jivanelli; 5-time Riverhead Modified champion Don Howe; 2-time Riverhead Modified champion, John Fortin; Modified veteran Chris Young, and current promising Modified star, Tom Rogers Jr.  The Figure 8’s today present a wealth of talent including Riverhead’s most winningest driver, Roger Maynor, George Sprague, Bill Steen, Tom Kraft, and Kenny Hyde to name a few.

First recipient of Schenk’s offer was the #61 Brian’s Auto Body Buick of Joe Saraceno who debuted his immaculate car this past Saturday night at Riverhead Raceway.  If you have a Figure 8 car sitting in your garage, bring it out to take advantage of the offer as well as help boost the car count and bring the Figure 8’s back to the glory days.

More sponsors are being sought to keep the program going for new Figure 8’s coming out this season.  Not only will you be helping out the World Famous Figure 8’s but also your company/organization will get publicity via news media and announced at the track.

For more information be free to e-mail Artie Schenk at figure849@aol.com or stop by the #28 Figure 8 pit.
