FIRECRACKER
SMACKER ON THE 4TH OF JUNKLY
Don't let that old car
go to waste in the backyard. Give it a chance to live again
and maybe a fitting funeral.. In the tradition of the
mid-winter "Beaters with Heaters" race which to this
day is still being talked about, Billy Bartley will be
promoting another Holiday themed event of it's kind on July
4th appropriately called the "Firecracker Smacker on the
4th of Junkly" at Mountain Speedway in St. Johns,
Pa.
The fun filled day
encourages wannabe racers or current crew members and drivers
to get out there and compete with little or no money invested
in a car. The cars are completely stock off the street with
only safety modifications. Two divisions of cars will compete.
The 4cyl car or trucks and the 6/8 cyl cars. Both types will
run a 104 lap feature event followed by a 24 lap (ladies only)
race. The drivers are encouraged to decorate the cars in
the holiday spirit. There will be an award for "Best
Holiday themed car".
The pits and grandstands
were packed for the last race with people coming from all over
the east coast. They were amazed by seeing cars all painted
and decorated in the holiday spirit, passengers in the cars,
horns beeping, windshield wipers flopping, radios blasting
rock tunes and the hilarity of plain ordinary true rookies
having fun. There were also some big name drivers from many of
the surrounding speedways and tours in the race also just
having a ball. There were representatives from NASCAR Busch
North series, Featherlite Modified Series, Hooters Cup,
Modified track champions, NEETS, and many more driving these
junk cars.
There will be much press
coverage including TV, magazines, racing papers, radio,
regional reporters and many more. A portion of the "Beaters"
race was Nationally aired in February on Dave Despains' "WindTunnel".
Videos of the race were professionally taped and sold in
record amounts. Local TV Channel 13 Blue Ridge Cable taping
footage for their 1/2 hour racing news program.
If you are a fan and
always wanted to get on the track...here is your chance. If
you just want to have a fun day full of thrills, spills and
laughs...come and watch. Drivers, get rid of the mid-season
points battle blues and have a fun day for a change. The Iced
Tea will be on the house, free to all, courtesy of Bartley
Racing Enterprises. With a grandstand admission of only $5 age
10 and up, how can you go wrong.
The success of this race
has reached far and wide. This race has only just begun to be
promoted and already the phone calls are coming in
from as far away as Florida. The last race had a count of
150 cars and is expected to exceed that amount for July 4th
race.
"This is the most fun you
will ever have in the front seat of a car"
