JULY
IS JUMPING AT RIVERHEAD RACEWAY
The joint
will be jumping at Barbara and Jim Cromarty's Riverhead
Raceway during the month of July. Fans can expect a
perfect blend of NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series, Enduro series
races and family entertainment thrills and spills. It
all kicks off with the annual Fireworks Independence Day
spectacular Saturday evening July 3rd, which will feature a
first ever Police Car Demolition Derby complete with lights
and sirens.
The 2004 Fireworks spectacular will be
the 20th anniversary edition but it will be presented for the
first time at Riverhead Raceway by Bay Fireworks so fans can
count on something special as they light up the night sky
during the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series show with a breathtaking
variety of colors on July 3rd. The Cromarty Cup 50 for the
NASCAR Modifieds will be joined by the Figure Eights, Chargers
and Blunderbusts. When the racing and fireworks have
been completed it will be time for the first ever Police Car
Demolition Derby which will perhaps both salute and get even
with law enforcement! The July 3rd show will carry a Sunday
July 4th rain date.
The following week July 10th will see
the Full Size School Buses returning for their second Figure
Eight race of 2004. "Slim" Jim Donaldson will
be looking for a clean sweep in this wildly exciting event.
Joining the Buzz Chew Chrysler-Dodge night program will be the
NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Blunderbusts and Super Pro
Trucks. The cars and stars of the Riverhead Raceway Grand
Enduro class will also race under the lights on this night.
Saturday July 17th will find a special
treat as Jim "Crash" Moreau will be on hand
performing two of the wildest stunts ever seen on Long Island.
The "Maine Maniac" will perform a Torpedo Crash,
along with a School Bus Steel Wall Crash on Eagle Chevrolet
and Assist2Sell night. Joining the wild stuntman will be the
NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Chargers, 4/6 Cylinder Truck
Enduro and a Train Race.
Sunday July 18th the track, which normally
runs an Enduro program on this date, instead will host the
Long Island Motorcycle Fair in the pit area of the facility.
Riders from all over the tri-state area are expected to turn
out for the afternoon, which will feature motorcycle vendors
and related themes. The Long Island Motorcycle Fair will
commence at 10:00 and run all afternoon.
The annual "Night Of Thrills will
unfold Saturday July 24th featuring a Mini School Bus
Demolition Derby, Car Rollover Contest and 4-Cylinder Enduro
during the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series card. Running in the
NASCAR classes on Buzz Chew Chevy-Olds-Cadillac night will be
the NASCAR Modifieds, a 50-lap double point Late Model
feature, Figure Eights and Blunderbusts.
The busy and thrilling month will
conclude on July 31st on Donaldson's VW night with a busy
seven feature event format featuring NASCAR Modified, Late
Model, Figure Eight, Charger, Blunderbust and Super Pro Truck
racing. Completing perhaps the busiest night of 2004 are the
8-Cylinder Enduro drivers and machines.
