MINI
BUS DEMO HIGHLIGHTS NIGHT OF THRILLS
This
Saturday evening July 24th Riverhead Raceway promoters Barbara
and Jim Cromarty will present the annual "Night of
Thrills." This will be highlighted by a Mini School Bus
Demolition Derby which will compliment the NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series program.
Four divisions of NASCAR racing will
be presented on Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Oldsmobile night with a
50-lap, double point Late Model feature grabbing the
spotlight. This will be the third and final double point
paying contest in 2004 for the class which finds Glenn Tyler
of Hampton Bays some 50 points up on his closest competitor
heading into the July 17th show. If the defending Late Model
champion comes out of this contest in good shape it will be
hard to dethrone him.
In addition to the Late Models will be
the NASCAR Modifieds, Figure Eights and Blunderbusts.
Qualifying will start with Late Model time trials at 4:00 pm
and feature races will start at 6:00 pm.
Amidst the stock car frenzy will be a
wild and wooly Car Rollover Contest, the second Saturday night
showing for these death-defying daredevils. The cars and stars
of Riverhead Raceway's 4-Cylinder Enduro will have their race
under the lights. The lightweight cars really click off
some fast lap times while dodging the usual Enduro roadblocks.
Bringing the night to a smashing
conclusion will be a hard hitting Mini-School Bus Demolition
Derby, which is a fun event for young and old alike. Among
those expected to smash and crash the Mini-School Buses are
"Slim" Jim Donaldson of Shirley, Tommy "Wildchild"
Walkowiak of Middle Village and Ed "Speedo" Jager of
Flemington, N.J.
So pack up the kids and head on out to
Riverhead Raceway for a perfect combination of NASCAR Dodge
Weekly Series action and the annual "Night of
Thrills" this Saturday July 24th.
