WEATHER HALTS RIVERHEAD RACEWAY ACTION
After just
12 of 26 Late Models took time Saturday afternoon at Riverhead
Raceway light rain moved in and halted the proceedings. With a
forecast of more on and off rain all night promoters Barbara
and Jim Cromarty made the decision to call the show.
Rain checks and pit passes will be
honored this Saturday night for the July 31st NASCAR Dodge
Weekly Series program which features all six divisions and an
8-Cylinder Enduro. Rain checks and pit passes will not be
honored on August 7th for the Riverhead 200 NASCAR Featherlite
Modified Series date!
The 50-lap Late Model main event, the
third and final double point race for the class, will now
shift to Saturday August 21st, while the Mini-School Bus
Demolition Derby moves to August 28th which is I Love America
Night with a Fireworks display and NASCAR stock cars.
As for the Car Rollover Contest and
4-Cylinder Enduro set for the "Night Of Thrills"
this past Saturday, competitors for both those events will
receive credit toward the Sunday August 8th Enduro show.
Prior to the light rain stopping the
time trials for the Late Models "Mighty" Mike
Mortimer of Mastic Beach had been the quickest with a lap of
12.828 followed by Scott Kulesa of Calverton with a time of
12.841. However those times will be wiped out and everyone
will start with a fresh slate when the race is run August
21st.
