04 RIVERHEAD CHAMPIONS TO BE FETED NOV 6

The 2004 Riverhead Raceway "parade of champions" roster has been completed and promoters Barbara and Jim Cromarty will honor eight divisional champions Saturday night November 6th at the Melville Marriott. Tom Rogers Jr. of Patchogue the 2004 NASCAR Modified champion will lead the parade of Dodge Weekly Series champions.
Aside from the Riverhead Raceway championship hardware and point fund money Rogers also earned the coveted Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Long Island Driver's Cup. For Rogers, who has spent the last three years representing Big Brother & Big Sisters, earning the NASCAR Modified version will be very special after Figure Eight versions of the cup.
Joining Rogers in the 2004 "parade of champions" are two other drivers soaking in the laurels of their first career championships, Tom Pickerell of Huntington the Blunderbust kingpin along with Super Pro Truck champion Lou Maestri of Deer Park. Both Pickerell and Maestri are veteran drivers who have raced several divisions other than the two they won their 2004 titles in.
Glenn Tyler of Hampton Bays will enjoy his second straight Late Model championship, as will 2004 Charger champion "Dynamite" Dan Turbush of Riverhead. Rounding out the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series championship roster will be Roger Maynor of Bay Shore who earned his fifth career crown in that division.
Stan Wangenstein of Holtsville and Kevin Clarke of Rocky Point will be honored for their first career Train Race title, with "Slim" Jim Donaldson of Shirley once again the Car Rollover Contest champion.
Aside from trophies and point fund checks for the top teams in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series, numerous special awards will be distributed as well including the Rookie of the Year, Owner of the Year and Best Appearing Car awards among them.
Tickets for the Riverhead Raceway awards gala are now available at $55 per ticket, which includes a full course sit down dinner, awards plus music and dancing. The 2004 affair will mark the second year that a cash bar will be in effect. The Melville Marriott is offering a hotel room discount up until October 6th.
