RIVERHEAD
ANNOUNCES NOV 14 SWAP SHOP
The
annual Long Island Automotive Swap Shop, a staple in the fall
season in auto racing since its days at the former Islip
Speedway will return for 2004 at Riverhead Raceway on Sunday
November 14th. The swap shop is a racers' flea market for the
local oval racer, as well as drag racers and off road
enthusiasts.
Bill Denniston who will present the
event announced that the $20 per vendor space fee, which has
been the price for over 25-years will not increase for the
2004 edition. For $20 per spot race teams can load up
all-their unwanted inventory and turn it into cold hard cash
to put towards their 2005 racing budgets. A nominal $5 fee
will be charged to those just coming out and doing some
shopping for their 2005 efforts.
"We want to also let our friends
know in New England and New Jersey that they are welcome to
come out and sell some of their cars, trailers and racing
related equipment" Bob Finan of the Riverhead staff
encouraged. "The complete cars that race at tracks in the
area might not be legal at Riverhead, but many of their spare
parts might be just what someone on Long Island is looking
for.
Aside from the Long Island Automotive
Swap Shop there will be some on-track racing with the Eastern
Kart Racing Association go-karts who will have their second to
last race meet of the 2004 series on the quarter mile oval.
Other special activities will be disclosed in coming weeks.
