READS FOR WORLD SERIES
Thompson,
CT -- The grand finale of the 2004 New England auto
racing season will once again be a race fan’s dream come
true. Thirteen different racing divisions will converge upon
the Thompson International Speedway the weekend of October 15th,
16th and 17th.
This
three-day racing extravaganza will include the incredible
winged Super Modifieds of ISMA, the NASCAR Featherlite
Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, All Star Trucks and Pro Four
Modifieds. The line up will also include Sunoco Modifieds, Pro
Stocks, Late Models, Limited Sportsman, Mini Stocks and at
least three “Outlaw” race divisions.
In
its thirty-one year history, the World Series of Speedway
Racing has become one of the great racing weekends in the
nation. People from the U.S. and Canada return year after year
for this incredible weekend of high speed, close competition
and racing variety that is not seen at any other speedway in
the country.
Friday,
October 15th will be devoted to practice and
qualifying for Limited Sportsman, Pro 4 Modifieds, All Star
Trucks, Mini Stocks and the “outlaw” divisions. Once
qualifying for these divisions is complete, the All Star
Trucks will run their main event.
On
Saturday, more practice followed by qualifying for all
remaining divisions including the ISMA Super Modifieds and the
NASCAR Featherlite Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, Sunoco Modifieds,
Pro Stocks and Late Models.
Once qualifying has been completed, feature events for
the divisions that qualified on Friday will be run.
Sunday,
October 17th is the day when all of the big guns
take to the speedway.
The
divisions that ran their qualifying on Saturday will make up
the racing card for Sunday which starts at 12 Noon.
A
huge part of the World Series of Speedway Racing is the social
aspect of the weekend as race fans move between the track and
the Raceway Restaurant and Lounge for food, dancing and fun.
The Thompson “Club House” will be open all weekend for
racers to enjoy.
Three
major racing championships will also be part of the racing
action, as the ISMA Super Modifieds, the NASCAR Featherlite
Modifieds and the NEMA Midgets will all crown a champion
following their Sunday main event. The points battles in each
of these divisions has brought the crowning of a champion
right down to the final event of the season. The most hotly
contested points battle is in the NASCAR Featherlite Modified
Series where Pennsylvania driver Tony Hirschman seeks the
crown for the third time in his career while Connecticut’s
Ed Flemke, Jr., only a hand full of points behind Hirschman,
seeks his first title.
