Thompson, CT -- The grand finale of the 2004 New England auto racing season will once again be a race fan’s dream come true. Thirteen different racing divisions will converge upon the Thompson International Speedway the weekend of October 15th, 16th and 17th.

This three-day racing extravaganza will include the incredible winged Super Modifieds of ISMA, the NASCAR Featherlite Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, All Star Trucks and Pro Four Modifieds. The line up will also include Sunoco Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Late Models, Limited Sportsman, Mini Stocks and at least three “Outlaw” race divisions.

In its thirty-one year history, the World Series of Speedway Racing has become one of the great racing weekends in the nation. People from the U.S. and Canada return year after year for this incredible weekend of high speed, close competition and racing variety that is not seen at any other speedway in the country.

Friday, October 15th will be devoted to practice and qualifying for Limited Sportsman, Pro 4 Modifieds, All Star Trucks, Mini Stocks and the “outlaw” divisions. Once qualifying for these divisions is complete, the All Star Trucks will run their main event.

On Saturday, more practice followed by qualifying for all remaining divisions including the ISMA Super Modifieds and the NASCAR Featherlite Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, Sunoco Modifieds, Pro Stocks and Late Models.  Once qualifying has been completed, feature events for the divisions that qualified on Friday will be run.

Sunday, October 17th is the day when all of the big guns take to the speedway.

The divisions that ran their qualifying on Saturday will make up the racing card for Sunday which starts at 12 Noon.

A huge part of the World Series of Speedway Racing is the social aspect of the weekend as race fans move between the track and the Raceway Restaurant and Lounge for food, dancing and fun. The Thompson “Club House” will be open all weekend for racers to enjoy.

Three major racing championships will also be part of the racing action, as the ISMA Super Modifieds, the NASCAR Featherlite Modifieds and the NEMA Midgets will all crown a champion following their Sunday main event. The points battles in each of these divisions has brought the crowning of a champion right down to the final event of the season. The most hotly contested points battle is in the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series where Pennsylvania driver Tony Hirschman seeks the crown for the third time in his career while Connecticut’s Ed Flemke, Jr., only a hand full of points behind Hirschman, seeks his first title.
