RIVERHEAD
ANNOUNCES $52,490 POINT FUND FOR 2004
Barbara
and Jim Cromarty have announced that they will payout $52,490
in point fund money for the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series at
the annual Riverhead Raceway awards banquet Saturday evening
November 6th. It was also disclosed that Jerry Cook would be
the keynote speaker from NASCAR. Cook formerly of Rome, N.Y.
is part of the NASCAR R&D Tech Center in North Carolina.
When Tom Rogers Jr. of Patchogue steps
to the stage to accept his 2004 NASCAR Modified championship
trophy along with his sister and car owner Cindy Berner, they
will walk away with a handsome check from a $18,760 point
fund. In addition to the Riverhead Raceway monies Rogers
earned, he'll also receive $1,000 from the NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series.
For the second consecutive season
Glenn Tyler of Hampton Bays and his car owners John &
Sheryl Heather will be feted as Late Model champions and take
with them a large check from a recently announced $11,390
point fund. Tyler will also pocket an additional $1,000 from
the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series ShorTrack series as Late Model
champion.
After winning nine feature events
during the 2004 Figure Eight season Roger Maynor of Bay Shore
will reap the financial benefits from a $5,700 point fund. The
2004 championship was Maynor's fifth career title.
Another repeat champion from 2003 is
Charger champion "Dynamite" Dan Turbush of Riverhead
and the ultra popular talent will earn a large check from an
$8,150 2004 point fund. The Charger point fund nearly doubled
this year from last.
Earning his first career championship in
the final points race of the season, Tom Pickerell of
Huntington is the 2004 Blunderbust champion and he'll take a
nice check home with him from the $4,000 point fund.
Another first time champion is Lou
Maestri of Deer Park who won the 2004 Super Pro Truck
championship will collect a hefty check from the $3,890 point
fund.
Taking home $600 will be 2004 Train
Race champions Stan Wangenstein of Holtsville and Kevin Clarke
of Rocky Point who wrapped-up their first career title in the
final race of the year.
The top ten drivers in all division
will earn point fund checks, while the top five will also be
presented a handsome trophy for their 2004 efforts.
Riverhead Raceway management would
like to thank the following for sponsoring one of the largest
point funds in the rich history of the quarter mile oval.
Barbara and Jim Cromarty sponsored the fund to the tune of
$32,260, while JYD Enterprises the Hoosier Tire Distributor
added $12,830. Hoosier Tire East posted $5,000 at the start of
the 2004 campaign, with Merkel Racing Engines adding $1,400
and McBetts Racing Engines $1,000.
Along with all the top drivers in the
six divisions being honored Saturday evening November 6th,
there will be plenty of special awards to be handed out as
well and as always the Riverhead Raceway banquet shapes up to
be the best party in stock car racing!
