2004 NEETS CHAMPIONS HONORED

 

2004 NEETS champions, Joe Jentile and Peter Verwys were honored Saturday at Genetti's in Hazleton, PA  during Mountain Speedway's banquet ceremonies.  After dinner, track announcer Mike Fields brought the ceremonies under way starting with Mountain Speedway champions Chola Shay (Late Model), Mike Higgins (Pro Stock), Brad Kline (Street Stock), Sue Collins (Thriller) and Patrick Verwys (4 Cyl. Thriller).

 

NEETS promoter, Billy Bartley, and Ms. NEETS, Cindy Bott  joined Mike on the stage for the NEETS award presentations.  The top ten in the Tour Car division were awarded trophies and money.  Bringing home the championship, largest trophy and the biggest purse was Joe "Millionaire" Jentile.  Peter Verwys was also crowned as the 4 Cylinder Mini Series champion as the rest of the top five in the division received trophies and cash for their efforts.

 

Billy Bartley was presented with a plaque of appreciation from his drivers from this past season.  Others were also recognized for their efforts and contributions during the 2004 campaign, including Ms. NEETS (Cindy Bott), NEETS Tech Man (Gary Slusser), NEETS Head Flagger (Matt Odwazney), Gene Ostrowski (Public Relations) and Frank Reakes (Tech).  One of the most prestigious awards (The Uncle Petey Award) was presented to Bobby "Peaseman" Pease for his morale boosting efforts this entire season.  The Uncle Petey award is given annually to the individual who has helped the drivers and series without hesitation throughout the season.
