While honoring all the champions
from the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series, Riverhead Raceway
promoters Barbara and Jim Cromarty also disclosed the 2005
schedule through the awards banquet program. The NASCAR
stock cars will swing into action Saturday evening April
30th, while the next afternoon May 1st the 2005 Enduro
series will get underway.
The 2005 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series
will once again feature the NASCAR Modifieds who will
headline every Saturday night program from April 30th until
September 10th. The only two weeks off for the class will be
the two visits of the Whelan NASCAR Modified Series on
Saturday June 4th and August 6th. After running 200-lap
events since 1985 the 2005 races will be 150 circuits.
Joining the NASCAR Modifieds just
about every week will be the Late Models of the NASCAR Dodge
ShorTrack Series, Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts and
Super Pro Trucks.
Sprinkled throughout the 2005
Saturday night slate are once again some fantastic family
entertainment shows including two Fireworks displays, two
Full Size School Bus races and Demolition Derbies and a
Mini-School Bus Race and Demolition Derby. Also returning in
2005 are a Police Car and Taxi Cab Demolition Derby, two
4-Cylinder Demolition Derbies as well two 8-Cylinder
Demolition Derbies. New to the 2005 schedule will be a
Blindfolded Taxi-Cab race.
The cars and stars of the Riverhead
Raceway Enduro set will be back with five Sunday afternoon
shows, as well as a Saturday night season ending program.
Individual enduro races in July will also be held on a
Saturday night. Making-up the Enduro shows will be the Grand
Enduro, 8-Cylinder, 6-Cylinder, 4-Cylinder and 4/6-Cylinder
Truck Enduro races. One On One Spectator Drags will join
them Sunday afternoons, as will the Car Rollover Contest on
select Sunday shows. The Rollover daredevils will also
showcase their talents on 3 Saturday night programs.
In 2004 the Long Island Motorcycle
Fair debuted in July at Riverhead Raceway and for 2005 there
will be two such afternoons, one on June 12th and one on
September 11th. The annual Old Timers Day will take place on
Sunday afternoon August 28th.
Indeed a busy and energetic schedule
set forth for 2005 by Barbara and Jim Cromarty and it will
all be proceeded by the two pre-season warm-up days on
Saturday afternoon April 16th and again April 23rd starting
at 12:00 noon.
