MICRO
SPRINT RACERS READY TO ROLL THE DICE
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - Steve Buckwalter, Nathan
Hauck and Jack Spence are ready to roll the dice in Atlantic
City. The three Micro-Sprint standouts have posted their
³gamblerıs fee² and will chase a $5,000 top prize for
winning the Atlantic City Indoor Race ³Gamblerıs Classic²
at Boardwalk Hall on Sat., Jan. 22.
The 40-lap TQ Midget/600cc Micro-Sprint
feature, which caps off two days of indoor racing action on
the Hallıs concrete-surfaced oval track, offers a $2,000
first-place check. But drivers are eligible to run for a
$5,000 payoff if they submit a $100 ³gamblerıs fee² when
they enter--and Buckwalter, Hauck and Spence have all taken
that challenge.
Buckwalter comes to A.C. hot off a superb
2004 season. He won 15 Micro-Sprint features and was also
victorious on the ARDC Midget trail. The Royersford, Pa.,
standout will compete at A.C. as a teammate to York, Pa.ıs
Hauck, who has flashed some speed in the 2003 and 2004
installments of the Indoor Race.
HR Motorsports of York, Pa., will field
600cc Micro-Sprints for both Buckwalter and Hauck. Bear,
Del.ıs Spence, meanwhile, will take a third crack at victory
in the A.C. Indoor Race. Heıs shown flashes of brilliance in
each of his two previous appearances, but his runs were marred
by spectacular accidents.
The entry list continues to grow for the A.C.
Indoor Race, which offers complete racing programs on Jan. 21
and 22. Several other Micro-Sprint drivers have already
submitted entry forms, including Dan Biggs of Seaville, N.J.;
Charles Chance Jr. of Port Elizabeth, N.J.; Dan McMahon of
Cape May Courthouse, N.J.; Bob Maxwell Jr. of Elizabethtown,
Pa.; and Jack Arute of Suffield, Conn., who is best known as
an ABC television auto racing commentator and football
sideline reporter.
Also entered is Micro-Sprint standout
Michael Carber of Pipersville, Pa., but the young driver will
be driving a TQ Midget in the event. The two-day program
commences on Fri., Jan. 21, with time trials for the TQ
Midgets/600cc Micros at 6:45 p.m. The eveningıs main
attraction will be the ³Roaring 20s²--triple 20-lap events
that transfer the top-four finishers directly to Saturday
nightıs feature.
After the ³Small Car Nationals² for
Micro-Stocks, Young Lion Slingshots and Mini-Cup cars is run
beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 22, the evening
card--headlined by the ³Gamblerıs Classic²--kicks off at
7:15 p.m. For more info call 609-888-3618 or visit www.aarn.com.
