LONG
ISLAND DAYTONA 500 PARTY ON THE MOVE
The much-anticipated Long Island
Daytona 500 party will once again be staged Sunday February
20th and hosts Bob Finan and Steve and Tim Halpin have
announced the popular event will be moving northbound for
2005. Mike's Place located in Coram on Route 25 will play
host to the gathering, which increases in size year after
year after a modest start some 12 years ago.
Steve Halpin, who started the party
with Riverhead Raceway's Bob Finan noted about the change in
venue, "We are very pleased that the 2005 Daytona 500
party will be held at the original Mike's Place of Coram who
will be supporting a local race team at Riverhead during
2005". And, indeed David Roys of Coram will be
returning to the cockpit of a NASCAR Modified after most
recently serving as crew chief for the great
"Tiger" Tom Baldwin and will proudly fly the
Mike's Place of Coram colors in '05.
The trio of owners at Mike's Place
will be pulling out all the stops for the 2005 Daytona 500
bash, including a huge 60' TV complementing numerous other
television monitors at the popular eatery. A buffet will be
served all race long, with drink specials also in the
offering for the "Great American Race". The
Budweiser Girls are slated to warm-up the February afternoon
and there will be plenty of giveaways including 4 NASCAR
Jackets for some lucky winners.
The trio of owners at Mike's Place
in Coram, Joe Paprocky, Chris Brady and John Deery also
announced they will be pitching a big tent alongside the
main building. The tent will feature several TV monitors and
be heated and with New York State's Clean Air Act not
allowing smoking at any pub or restaurant those who do smoke
Mike's Place will accommodate them so they don't miss a
moment of the greatest sporting event in the world.
"We outgrew the Shirley
location we've been at the last couple of years" Bob
Finan noted, "that combined with the fact that Mike's
Place of Coram will be involved at Riverhead Raceway in 2005
with David Roys made this move a win-win situation for all
involved".
Mike's Place is located at 24 Route 25 (Middle
Country Road) in Coram, approximately 2 miles east of Route
112. For directions or more information please call Mike's
