RIVERHEAD PRACTICE SET FOR APRIL 16 & 23

The sweet sight of glistening NASCAR stock cars and the sound of finely tuned race engines are just six weeks off in the distance at Barbara and Jim Cromarty's Riverhead Raceway. The two pre-season practice sessions set for Saturday April 16th and April 23rd provide a sneak preview of what is to come in 2005.
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series divisions will first hit the quarter mile oval on April 16th for their test and tune session at 12:00 noon and run until 4:30 pm. All six stock car classes will take part in the warm-ups featuring the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks. After the NASCAR racers are finished at around 4:30 pm the Enduro race teams will then have warm-up sessions broken down among the Grand Enduro, 8-Cylinder Enduro and 6-Cylinder 4-Cylinder and 4/6-Cylinder Truck Enduro with each group having a couple of rounds.
The entire process will then again be repeated the following Saturday April 23rd with cars again hitting the track at 12:00 noon. On both dates the pit gates will open at 9:00 am for safety tech and everyone is reminded that no car will be permitted on the track without a safety tech decal showing your car passed. Like the 16th, once the NASCAR machines are finished the Enduro troops will take to the track.
Those wanting to take care of the safety tech end of business prior to April 16th and 23rd can do so on Saturday April 2nd, Sunday April 3rd and again Saturday April 9th with safety tech inspection days in the pit area of the track getting underway at 10:00 am each day.
All the pre-season activity is leading up to opening day weekend set for Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st. On Saturday evening a six for one NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series program will be presented with qualifying at 4:30 pm and feature racing at 6:30 pm. On Sunday afternoon the Enduro cars and stars will usher in 2005 with a full slate of racing at 12:30 pm.
