NASCAR
WHELEN MODIFIEDS TO STOP AT RIVERHEAD TWICE
Loaded with a new
title sponsor and enthusiasm the NASCAR Whelen Modified
Tour is set for two visits to Barbara and Jim Cromarty's
Riverhead Raceway on Saturday evening June 4th and again
on Saturday evening August 6th. The NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour will mark its 21st annual season of action
at the demanding quarter-mile facility and new for 2005
will be a 150-lap distance for both races.
Jerry Marquis of Broad Brook, Ct. is the defending
champion of the June Miller Lite event, one which he
dominated in 2004 by setting fast-time, drawing the pole
in the redraw and leading all 200 circuits of the
contest. Donny Lia of Jericho scored a popular hometown
victory when he won the August edition of the NASCAR
Whelen Modified Tour in August for his second career
triumph. Lia's first career victory came one-year prior
at Riverhead in the August race.
The track-marketing department is currently working
on trying to secure a sponsor for the August 150-lap
contest and any interested parties should call Bob Finan
or Deborah Cromarty at 631-842-RACE for further details.
As has been the case since 1985 when the NASCAR
Whelen Modified Tour first hit Riverhead it will be a
case of the invading WMT regulars coming in to take on
the tested tough Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series regulars.

Raceway season please call 631-842-RACE or visit
