A staple
with the Blunderbust division at Riverhead Raceway,
track officials announced today New York Metro Peterbilt
would return as a seasonal sponsor for the seventh
consecutive campaign. The 2005 season is just weeks away
at Barbara and Jim Cromarty's action packed track with
opening weekend set for Saturday April 30th and Sunday
May 1st.
Serving the New York and surrounding tri-state area
with two facilities, New York Metro Peterbilt and the
Ehrler family will once again add purse money weekly to
the super competitive Blunderbust class. A night at the
races for New York Metro Peterbilt will be announced
shortly. New York Metro Peterbilt can be found in both
Flushing, N.Y. as well in Hauppauge, L.I. and feature a
full line of Peterbilt Trucks, as well service and
parts.
Soft spoken "Slick Pick" Tom Pickerell of Centerport
scored the 2004 Blunderbust championship and he'll be
the man to beat in 2005 when the class gets right down
to business on opening night April 30th. Right out of
the gate the division will run a 30-lap, double point
main event and all the "heavy hitters" will be geared up
for this contest.
Out to wrestle the 2005 title away from Pickerell
will be two-time kingpin Eugene Malverty, Doug Watson,
Scott Maliszewski and Bill Wegmann. Others to watch will
be the leading winner of feature events in 2004, Tommy
Walkowiak as well Artie Pedersen, Wayne Okula, Mike
Schwarz and Scott Pedersen.
Joining the Blunderbust troops on the 2005 NASCAR
Dodge Weekly Series opening night program are the NASCAR
Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers and
Super Pro Trucks.
After all the fast paced racing on Saturday evening
April 30th the opening day weekend marches on Sunday
afternoon May 1st with a full slate of Enduro racing at
12:30 pm.
