FREE GRANDSTAND ADMISSION FOR RIVERHEAD PRACTICE

    The longstanding tradition of free grandstand admission for the pre-season practice sessions at Riverhead Raceway will continue in 2005.  Barbara and Jim Cromarty will swing open the gates of the quarter mile for a free sneak preview of the 2005 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series this Saturday afternoon April 16th.
    This is the first of two test and tune sessions; the other is set for April 23rd.  Both days will find race teams tweaking either their updated machines or their new cars for what will be a busy 2005 slate. Starting at 12:00 noon the stock cars will bring the sights, sounds and thrills of short track racing back to life with the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks.  They'll occupy the oval until around 4:30 pm.
    After the NASCAR set is done shaking off the rust from a long winters layoff it will then be time for the Enduro drivers to take to the track for their first laps of a new year.
    For both the April 16th and 23rd practice days the back stretch grandstands will be open free of charge to all spectators, who as always are encouraged to bring their digital cameras to snap some shot of all the shiny armor. For those with a team that will be practicing both days a $25 pit fee for insurance regulations will be charged and NASCAR teams must show either their NASCAR License or a receipt showing their license is in the works.
    After all the tweaking and tuning is finished it will be time to play for keeps with a huge opening weekend planned. Saturday night April 30th the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series races for keeps with the Blunderbusts running a 30-lap, double point main event right out of the gate.
Joining them will be the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers and Super Pro Trucks.
    Qualifying will start at 4:30 pm with the main events slated to start at 6:00 pm. Then the very next day round two of the opening weekend finds the Enduro stars racing in their first official events of 2005 starting at 12:30 pm.
