HOSSFELD EARNS FIRST BUD POLE OF SEASON

    Thompson, Conn. (April 9, 2005) – Chuck Hossfeld of Buffalo, N.Y. set fast time in qualifying for Icebreaker 2005 at Thompson International Speedway to earn the first Bud Pole award of the 2005 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season.

       Hossfeld, making his debut in the Don Barker owned Mahle Pistons Ford, toured the 5/8 mile speedway in 18.750 seconds for an average speed of 120.00 mph. The Top-8 qualifiers drew for starting position. Hossfeld picked the number three starting position.

       Defending NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Champion Tony Hirschman of Northampton, Pa. was second fastest with a speed of 119.694 mph. Hirschman will start fifth. Donny Lia of Jericho, N.Y was third fastest with a speed of 119.376 mph. Lia drew starting position number six. Defending icebreaker winner Ted Christopher of Plainville, Colnn. was fourth in qualifying and will start 7^th. Zack Sylvester of Lebanon, Conn. rounded out the Top-5 in qualifying and will start 8^th.

    Ken Bouchard of Fitchburg, Mass. drew the pole after qualifying 7th and will lead the 38 car starting field to the green. Bouchard will be joined on the front row by Eddie Flemke of Southington, Conn., last year’s runner-up in the series, who qualified 6^th.
