RIVERHEAD OPENER APRIL 30-MAY 1
Barbara and Jim
Cromarty will ring in a new race season with a double header
weekend this Saturday evening April 30th and Sunday May 1st
at Riverhead Raceway with anxious race fans ready for
another action packed season at the quarter mile oval. A six
division NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series program is on the menu
for Saturday night April 30th, while a full Enduro card will
take center stage Sunday May 1st.
Silenced since September last season, the NASCAR
Modifieds are ready to roar back into action with a 35-lap
main event Wayne Anderson of Yaphank, the opening night
winner in 2004, is looking to get the new season off on the
right foot again. Dave Brigati of Calverton won the 25-lap
Late Model lid lifter in 2004 and hopes to repeat in '05, as
does Roger Maynor of Bay Shore who won his first of nine
Figure Eight features on opening night a year ago. Other
opening night winners from 2004 hoping to repeat are Eugene
Malverty of Lindenhurst in the Blunderbusts and Danny
Grennan of Glen Cove in the Super Pro Trucks. The Charger
opening night winner Steve Ratti sold all his racing
equipment last summer and that leaves a new opening night
winner to grace the winner's circle Saturday night.
Saturday's action will start at 4:30 pm with heat
races. The feature events will go green at 6:00 pm. A
30-lap, double point Blunderbust feature will highlight the
card.
Then just hours later the cars and stars of the
Riverhead Raceway Enduro Series will have their opening day
Sunday May 1st at 12:30 pm. The first ever Grand Enduro on
Hoosier Comanche Tires will be contested and be joined by
Enduros for 8-Cylinder, 6-Cylinder, 4-Cylinder and 4/6
Cylinder Trucks. Rounding out the matinee will be a wild and
wooly Train Race, One-One Spectator Drags and a Car Rollover
Contest.
