MAYNOR HOPES TO REPEAT IN CROMARTY CUP MAY 14
Among his
record tying nine visits to victory lane last season Roger
Maynor of Bay Shore scored a third consecutive win on the
season in the prestigious Cromarty Cup 25 Figure Eight event
last May. Maynor hopes he’ll be riding the same kind of win
streak when the 2005 Cromarty Cup 25 double point race is
contested Saturday night May 14th.
Despite the
extreme pain Maynor was suffering from a bulging disc in his
back Roger drove to the popular victory in his Barrasso &
Sons Mason Supplies Ford. His back is normal once again, but
his road to repeating in the Cromarty Cup 25 might still
very well be bumpy. Among those out to take home the
Cromarty Cup will be George Sprague, Bill Steen, Ken Darch,
Arne Pedersen, Paul Specht, Tom Kraft, Ken Hyde Jim
Donaldson and the returning George Brown.
The Figure
Eights aren’t the only division racing for double points on
the May 14th card, as the Chargers will go 30
circuits in their first of three double point paying events
of 2005. Defending champion “Dynamite” Dan Turbush of
Riverhead hopes to use this race as a springboard to yet
another title. Out to try and dethrone the popular lead foot
will be son Chris Turbush and brother Rusty along with the
likes of Robin Vollmoeller, Chris McGuire, Rob Tribuzio,
Eric Lutz, Mike Bologna, Jeremy McDermott and Brad Van
Houten.
Completing
the six division race night will be the NASCAR Modifieds,
Late Models, Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks. Charger time
trials for their 30 lap tilt will kick-off qualifying at
4:30 pm with main event racing to commence at 6:00 pm.
