RIVERHEAD TRUCKS SET FOR TRAILER TRANSPORT NIGHT MAY
21
Saturday night May 21st at Barbara
and Jim Cromarty's Riverhead Raceway will bring another six
division NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series stock car program. The
Late Models, Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks will take
center stage. The season's first Train Race will round out
the program with a 12-lap main event on the Figure Eight
course.
The first of three double point contests for the Late
Models will unfold in a 50-lap, double point feature event.
Time trials will determine the first 15 starting positions
of what is scheduled to be a 20-car field. Defending Late
Model champ Glenn Tyler of Hampton Bays will be focusing on
making tracks to his third straight crown in 2005, while the
likes of Roger Oxee, Mike Mortimer, Dave Brigati, Jarrod
Hayes, Greg Kleila, Scott Kulesa, Kevin Metzger and Sean
Patterson will all be gunning for the win.
The Blunderbusts are slated to run in their second
double point 30-lap tilt of 2005 on May 21st after
struggling to attempt their first such race earlier in the
month. With Tom Pickerell deciding not to defend his title a
wide-open field for the 2005 championship has emerged. Early
season favorites from warm-ups include Doug Watson, Scott
Maliszewski, Bill Wegmann, Artie Pedersen, Wayne Okula,
Scott Pedersen and Tommy Walkowiak.
Over in the Super Pro Truck pit area it will be Trailer
Transport night for the tailgate set with defending champion
Lou Maestri of Deer Park leading the troops into action.
Among his challengers in 2005 will be Bryan Sescila, Troy
Ferdinando, Dave Koenig, Mike Albasini, Dave Brigati, Frank
Dumicich Sr & Jr., Bobby Gardner and Brian McElearney.
Train Race champions from 2004 Stan Wangenstein and
Kevin Clarke are expected for what now becomes the first
event of 2005 after the rain-out on May 1st. Among the teams
out to test the Wangenstein and Clarke duo will be former
champions Peter Bertuccio and Scott Schelin as well as stock
car moonlighters Robin Vollmoeller and Jarrod Hayes.
Joining those four main events will be the NASCAR
Modifieds, Figure Eights and Chargers. Time trials will
start at 4:00 pm and feature events get the green flag at
6:00 pm.
