RIVERHEAD LOSES WAITING GAME WITH RAIN SATURDAY
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series
officials at Riverhead Raceway found themselves once again
in a waiting game with weather this past Saturday. Barbara
and Jim Cromarty finally threw in the towel just after 12:00
noon. Mother Nature is now four for five on the 2005 season
at the Long Island speed plant.
A pesky coastal storm that hugged the eastern most part
of Long Island would be the culprit this week forcing the
Cromarty's to shuffle the early season schedule once again.
The now twice rained-out 30-lap Blunderbust double point
race will switch to June 4th the night of the NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour Miller Lite 150. The 50-lap, double point
NASCAR Modified feature will now shift to Saturday June
18th.
This Saturday night May 14th will feature the Cromarty
Cup 25 for the Figure Eight troops, while the Chargers will
do battle in a 30-lap, double point main event with time
trial qualifying. Once again this week the pits will open at
9:00 am, hopefully under sunny skies and practice will
commence at 12 noon. Time trials will start qualifying at
4:00 pm and feature racing goes green at 6:00 pm. Rounding
out the busy opening night card this week will be the NASCAR
Modifieds, Late Models, Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks.
