When Tony
Hirschman collected his 31st career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
win at Stafford Motor Speedway in April, he also reached a milestone. His
purse winnings of $8,850 placed him over the million dollar mark in career
earnings.
Despite the magnitude of the
accomplishment – Hirschman is the third driver in Whelen Modified Tour
history to surpass the $1 million mark, Hirschman remains a humble champion.
“I didn’t even
realize it,” said Hirschman, a resident of Northampton, Pa. “I normally
don’t pay attention to things like that.”
The Tour will
return to Stafford on Friday May 27 for the running of the 15th
Annual Haynes Materials 150. Hirschman is hoping the momentum from his
Spring Sizzler victory will continue. Hirschman and the No. 48 Kamco Supply
Chevrolet team actually have a two race winning streak at Stafford dating
back to October of 2004.
“We have really
been running well at Stafford,” said Hirschman. “I’m hoping our string of
good races will continue. You have to run well at Stafford if you want to
compete for the championship,” said Hirschman. “Of course there are other
keys to a championship but good finishes at Stafford are a must.”
