LATE MODELS AND FIGURE 8'S IN SPOTLIGHT JUNE 11

    The Late Model and Figure Eight divisions of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series at Riverhead Raceway will take center stage Saturday night June 11th, when they run in double point, extra distance main events. The Late Model tilt will be a 50-lap affair while the Figure Eights will go 25 circuits on the six for one race program.
    As of press time Roger Oxee of Peconic is a perfect two-for-two in Late Model racing in 2005 with one of those triumphs in a 50-lap, double point race May 21st. Often the bridesmaid in the championship chase Oxee hopes to further increase his early season point lead in this 50-lap test. Among those chasing "RJ" early in the campaign will be "Mighty" Mike Mortimer of Mastic Beach and the surprising Billy Wheeler of Sag Harbor.  Also, you can never count out two-time defending LM champ Glenn Tyler of Hampton Bays along with Greg Kleila of Lindenhurst, Dave Brigati of Calverton, Jarrod Hayes of Calverton, Scott Kulesa of Calverton and Kevin Metzger of Massapequa.
    Rain has played havoc not just with the LM slate in 2005, but also that of the Figure Eight class so the June 11th double point race will be their second in just three races of the young season. In the Cromarty Cup 25 on May 14th veteran driver "TK" Tom Kraft of Medford scored the popular win and took the early season points lead. Defending champion Roger Maynor of Bay Shore, George Sprague, of N. Patchogue, Arne Pedersen of Mastic Beach, Ken Hyde of Medford, Bill Steen of Oakdale, George Brown of Coram and Mike Mujsce of Westhampton Beach will all be gunning for victory.
    Rounding out the June 11th race schedule will be the NASCAR Modifieds, Chargers and Super Pro Trucks. The season's second Train Race, a 12-lap wild and wooly affair on the Figure Eight course will complete the six-feature event show.
