WHELEN
OPEN HOUSE JUNE 24
by Walter Newcomb
Whelen Engineering, the title sponsor of the NASCAR
Whelen Modified Tour (WMT) and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour
is having an ‘Open House’ at their Chester, CT plant on Friday, June 24,
2005 between 4:00 and 6:00 PM. Director of Whelen Motorsports, Phil
Kurze told Mod Series Scene, ‘We know that the reason we are able to
participate in racing is because of the production workers that put in
their 40-50 hours a week to make the quality products that we provide to
our marketplace.’ This event will be open to the general public free of
charge.
Competitors from the Whelen Modified Tour will have
many of their racecars on display. This will allow the Whelen employees
to get a close look at the ground-pounders. It will also be a great
opportunity for WMT participants and the general public to take a tour
of the Whelen manufacturing facility. ‘We think that it is important for
our employees to get a chance to meet some of the drivers, car owners
and team members in person.’ Kurze said, he continued ‘It is also my
feeling that the more the teams know about Whelen Engineering the better
they will able to represent us to the public’.
The following evening, Whelen Engineering will be
the title sponsor of a 150-lap WMT race at the Waterford Speedbowl.
Whelen Engineering has purchased tickets for the event and is holding a
BBQ at the track. ‘The Whelen 150 is going to become a "family" night
for our employees and their guests’ said Kurze, continuing, ‘Our Company
is one big family and I want to provide everyone the opportunity to
become acquainted with the newest members of our family, the NASCAR
Whelen Modified Tour’.
The Open House is very important to
everyone at Whelen and they are banking on its’ success. It is critical
that we as members of the Tour support our title sponsor in this
endeavor. I hope to see everyone there.Source: Walter
