FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR SET FOR JULY 2
It’s as longstanding a
holiday tradition for Independence Day that you’ll find on Long Island
as Barbara and Jim Cromarty will once again present their annual
Fireworks extravaganza Saturday evening July 2nd at Riverhead Raceway.
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series stock cars will be in action and to add
even further spice to the show a Police Car Demolition Derby will
complete this truly spectacular show.
Once again homegrown Bay Fireworks of Long Island will light-up the
night sky with breathtaking aerial fireworks. Over the past two seasons
they have drawn rave reviews and this year they have promised us some
very exciting new displays. Another popular portion of the firework
portion of the show is the patriotic music that compliments every minute
of the display.
The NASCAR Modifieds will go to post for the annual Cromarty Cup 50,
a double point feature event that includes time trial qualifying. In
fact due to a May 7th rain out the Cromarty Cup 50 will be the second of
three double point races of 2005 and the second in just three weeks. The
class ran a double point feature June 18th making up for the May
washout. This will be a very pivotal point in the chase for the 2005
NASCAR Modified championship for such drivers as Bill Park, Mike Andrews
Jr., Chris Young, Joe Hartmann, Dan Jivanelli, Wayne Anderson, Jimmy
Blewett, Lenny Fischer and Chuck Steuer among others.
The world famous Figure Eight stock cars along with Charger and
Blunderbust racing will complete the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series program.
After the fireworks it will be time for the 2nd annual Police Car
Demolition Derby, a Riverhead Raceway version of cops and robbers. The
2004 edition was a huge smash, in more ways than one and 2005 promises
to be wilder and crazier that its predecessor.
Time trials for the NASCAR Modified will go green at 4:00 pm and the
feature event racing takes the green flag at 6:00 pm. In the event of
rain July 2nd this is the only Saturday night show of ’05 with a Sunday
rain date which is set for the very next day July 3rd with the same time
schedule in effect.
